About the Alabama Ear Institute

The Alabama Ear Institute is a 501©3 not for profit foundation founded in 1991 by Dr. Robert L. Baldwin.

The Alabama Ear Institute (AEI) accomplishes its mission through education, research, family oriented programs and services. The Alabama Ear Institute hopes to alter the age of hearing loss identification, bring about improved intervention methods, and better serve individuals with hearing loss.

AEI also serves as an advocate for those affected by hearing loss by providing the most complete and updated informational resources available for understanding and study of the the topic through a resource library and professional development opportunities for those who serve children with hearing loss.

AEI remains active in the process of public policy development in regard to issues surrounding hearing impairment and deafness.

AEI conducts educational conferences and seminar/workshops for special education teachers, audiologists, physicians, speech-language pathologists, teachers of the deaf, related state agency employees and parents of children who are deaf and hard of hearing. Most of AEI’s participants are employed in schools in our community.
